Should college major match desired pathway/specialty/ etc?

Currently a freshman microbiology major on a pre-med track at my state university. To me, it seems like if I am to continue to major in microbiology, that would narrow down my scope of possible MD specialties(in terms of continuity from what I am learning in undergrad) to Infectious Disease and Immunology. I may be getting ahead of myself as I am years away from even applying to medical school, and I certainly do find those specialities/topics interesting, but what if I get to that point and don’t want to do either of them, but because I chose such a focused undergrad major, I don’t have the flexibility to move into another specialty?

Essentially, should I choose a less focused major, so I don’t box myself into a scope of knowledge/practice later down the line?

When applying to college I was between Microbiology and Nutrition as my major, and in my mind, having nutrition as my major would actually allow greater flexibility in the future for easing into med school and further down the line different career paths. What do you guys think?

Worth switching dorms?

I got Thoreau as my residence hall which I am very happy about. The only issue is that at a first glance, my roommate is not ideal. Without getting into too much detail, we very clearly have little in common as far as interests, personality etc. All this is mostly what I inferred from his instagram. Should I suck it up and stay where I am, or should I try and get another SW dorm if possible where I can maybe have a better match? Ik I dont “have” to be friends with my roommate, but liking them would at least help.

Should I update my driver? (Ping G15)

I am an amateur golfer and am starting to play a lot more than usual. I have always used the Ping G15 w/ 12 degrees of loft as my driver, but I can imagine that since 2010 the technology has vastly improved and that my driver is now pretty outdated. Are there any similar drivers in terms of forgiveness, but newer and with better tech? Is it even worth upgrading at all?

Help needed: Am I screwed(Microbiology major taking chem late)?

I just registered for classes and it turns out my math placement score was 1 point below the minimum to take Chem 111 first semester(I took statistics my senior year of HS, so I was definitely unprepared for the calc and higher algebra on the placement test). This means I have to take pre-calc(Math 104), before I can then take Chem 111 in my second semester. How does this screw things up in terms of my major progression? I am also heavily considering following a pre-med track and I am sure that this screws that up as well. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know what to do in this situation?

Alcohol and Fluvoxamine

Is it ok to drink while on fluvoxamine? I am taking 125mg of fluvoxamine at bedtime for my OCD, and have been for a few months. I have an event coming up and it would really be the only time I go out of my way to drink( I don’t drink at all otherwise). I am a fairly big guy, 5’11 195lbs. Lots of lean muscle mass but also a good amount of body fat (no visible abs or anything) what do you guys think?
