Hey everyone, I’m a high school senior looking at UMass Amherst and I’m pretty interested in doing pre med.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about UMass, especially with the academics and opportunities for pre med students. The one thing I’m a little worried about is the party culture. I’ve heard that UMass has a pretty big party scene, and I’m honestly just not that into partying or drinking.

For people who currently go to UMass or went there recently, how easy is it to avoid the party scene? Is partying something that’s hard to get away from or is it pretty easy to find people who aren’t really into it?

Also, are there certain dorms, clubs, or groups where it’s easier to meet people who are more focused on school and other activities?

I still want to have a social life and make friends in college, I just don’t want to drink or party haha.

Long shot, but we were on the Icelandair flight from Reykjavík today (10/2) that landed around 9:45. We were in row 25 and talked for a while about your solo backpacking trip around Iceland.

You were also playing Civ on the plane, and you told me about getting rear-ended by a bus in Iceland while driving your rental car and the rental company trying to charge you like $12k, so I feel like that’s specific enough that you’ll know this is about you haha 😭

I’m looking for a ride back to the general direction of Boston. You don’t have to go out of your way to get me directly to my home just a ride in the general direction since I can uber or have a friend pick me up from there.

I did the room change process the other day, but ended up cancelling and staying put. Me and my current roommate haven't done the agreement. I just checked and the site still has me in the room I was supposed to move to. Should I just accept that one? Me and my current roommate have been fine without one for the most part.

Hi everyone! I’m a senior applying to UMass Amherst for Sports Management, and I had a question about recommendation letters.
I have a few strong recommendations from organizations I’ve worked with through my sports-related activities. Does UMass accept recommendation letters from people outside of my school, such as supervisors or directors from organizations I’ve volunteered/worked with?
Can I add these as additional recommendations through the Common App? Would they be considered as part of my application, or is there another way to submit them?
I’d really appreciate any advice from current UMass students or anyone familiar with the admissions process. Thank you!
