Is dating men on dating apps worth it? 😬

Marking this as 18+ cause I want to talk to other adults about it. I’m bi so I feel like dating only one gender could limit my sexuality, but I also am terrified of men on dating apps because of all the horror stories: stalking, unsolicited nudes, them matching with you just to insult you, etc etc.

I was with my ex all my adult life, so haven’t gotten a chance to date and really want to… but I need advice on this. To date or not to date men from the apps…

Also what apps do you guys use too?

EDIT: Thank you for all your perspectives! I’ve come to the conclusion I’m NOT going to date men on dating apps and only will date men I meet out in life through hobbies or school (if they pass the vibe check of course).

I have severe ulcerative colitis, and possibly lupus (still trying to figure that one out). I’m in a flare right now where my whole body just aches.

I’ve been out of work due to autoimmune for 3 years now, and my goal is to try to figure out next steps this year.

I’m curious what you all do for your jobs. I think I need something where I can sit down a lot (doesn’t have to be wfh) and can have flexibility for time off when it comes to doctors appointments or flares. Good benefits/health insurance is necessary since I’m on biologics.

I have thought about going back to school, but that makes me nervous for the same reasons and I don’t really know what I’d want to do or what field would be good for me.

Any insight would be so appreciated!

Started seriously using Duolingo in 2023 after getting diagnosed with a bunch of autoimmune complications to give me something to do even when I’m sick in bed. I never expected my streak number to be four numbers long. Very proud of myself. 🥹
