Prof claims my Calc 2 grade is "between 91% to 94%" (A-). His own syllabus weights put me at a 94.95% which is still an A-. What should I do?

I just finished Calculus 2, and on Canvas, my unweighted grade was showing as 97.57%. The professor posted an announcement telling us to check MyU for our final grades, where I saw I was given an A-. I emailed asking for a clerical check (see screenshot). The response I got told me to ignore Canvas because it puts in the grades incorrectly. They stated that the official course weights are:

  • 25% Homework
  • 45% Midterms (3 midterms, 15% each)
  • 30% Final Exam

The email then claimed that according to this formula, my total score is "not 97% rather something between 91% to 94% which falls in A- gradeline." The problem is, the math is wrong. I ran the exact formula using my actual graded scores from the semester: • Homework: 84% • Midterm 1: 98% • Midterm 2: 95% • Midterm 3: 100% • Final Exam: 100% When calculated out it is a 94.95%

My grade isn't "between 91% and 94%." It is a 94.95%, which is a hair away from a 95%, and even then he didn’t explicitly state what constitutes as an A. I got a perfect 100% on midterm 3 and a perfect 100% (135/135) on the final exam for studying my studying my ass off. The syllabus does not list exact decimal thresholds for an A vs an A-, it just says a 90% guarantees you "at least the A range." It seems like they just glanced at a spreadsheet and guessed my final percentage instead of actually calculating it, or a grade is missing on their end. And Yes, i checked myu and it is weighted as a 3.7, so it was purposely an A- and not an A.

I was already shut down over email, should I reply back to the instructor with the exact math breakdown, or should I escalate this to the math department head?
