

New brewer here, hoping for some feedback. I am on day 6 of my first firment. I think it looks fine but I was hoping for more pellicle formation. I used 1 cup of sugar, 14 cups of water and a little over 2 cups of "gingerade" kombucha from the store. pH is around 3.5. It is stored in a cupboard (only option) with an average temp of 73 degrees F.
A few questions:
Is this looking pretty normal or am I missing something?
There are some darker spots deep at the bottom. Do we have any ideas about them? Yeast? I cannot get a picture.
How can I tell if some of the stuff on top is kahm yeast?
How big can I expect the pellicle to get on the first go around starting from scratch?
Folks who have started from store bought booch, how long did you let yours go the first time?
