Crushed corner around doorway

Crushed corner around doorway

Hey y'all - like many others here, it's my first time hanging drywall and I ran into an issue where I crushed my board at the corner of the doorway. The house is about 40 years old and none of the framing members are flush with the others, nor is anything really plumb. I tried to shim the studs to get a flush surface to screw the board onto, but apparently I didn't get things flat enough (or otherwise just screwed too close to the corner), so the board crushed a bit when I drove in the screw.

Pics here: https://imgur.com/a/0wbSL7l As you can see in pic 1, the board is rippled a bit, but the paper is fully intact and everything is still firm to the touch. Pic 2 shows there is some underlying cracking. Given this portion of the board will be covered by the door trim, I'm not worried about the ripples visually, but I'm wondering if this is something that will give me problems in a few years? If a fix is needed, I'd rather do the work to fix it properly now vs having to fix it in a couple years when it's painted the trim is back up
