trains in the megabase I´m currently working on. I recently got 6K SPM working smoothly. There are currently 460 Trains employed, serving 480 stations. Plan is to reach 8k SPM. For a base overview see my comment below.

This is the central intersection in my 8K SPM base, which i currently limited to 4k SPM, because the rail infrastructure is not adequate enough yet

All sciences + steel smelting & LDS are to the bottom right of the intersection. Everything else is to the top right of the intersection
