What was it like sharing your first Mother's Day with your now same sex partner?

When my (cis f) wife (transfem) first came out two years ago, she said Mother's Day would always be mine and that we would find a separate day to celebrate her. She has been fully presenting and living fem for the last 10 months and now she feels extremely differently about that, which I can understand. I am truly not opposed to recognizing her on this day at all. I've actually already purchased her gifts and am planning for our kids to make cards for her.

But I still feel like hot garbage because I feel like my day is getting taken away from me.
