how long did you wait to try dating again after diagnosis?
i 21F was diagnosed with GHSV-1 in early april. it’s certainly been a roller coaster, but i feel that im making peace with it day by day. i’ve been single for quite some time now before this. i decided to give one guy a chance, and just like that his oral herpes spread to my genitals and that’s that. it was an accident. we’re both college students and he just graduated and it ended for other reasons, but now i’m stuck in that lonely place again. i’m not male centered and typically tend to be independent. i just crave someone to talk to and would eventually like to find my person. i’ve been using this diagnosis as a fuel to better myself- eating clean, going to the gym, and i even got a new job. i’m just scared to put myself back out there when i know that any potential partner is roadblocked by me having to disclose. i also worry about my age group being too immature to fully grasp sexual health and what herpes is and the differences between type 1 and type 2. what have been your experiences? is it best to wait? is it better to try talking to some men and then respectfully cut it off before it gets too sexual? lmk your thoughts.
