I finally cussed someone out for not using headphones

I've had it happen twice on an actual flight. The best was on a flight to Philadelphia where they verbally eviscerated the guy who didn't realize he was in his Bluetooth.

So today, I was in Dallas, on the train with a surley to be missed flight, and all of a sudden the Spanish speaking reals started. I just fucking let loose: "HEY! NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR YOUR SHIT!"

She looked mortified. The girl next to her looked like she wanted her boyfriends to say something. Nobody did anything but her turning it down.

I've posted about a handful of grunge bands but wanted to fast forward just a bit. A "Garage" band heralded by a newer generation of local punks who were into "pop punk", "post hardcore", or... who cares, really? This video doesn't do their live shows justice.

And what a doozy. We were already running behind with the plane being an hour late, and during that time the guy actually bought me a beer at the bar in Fresno!

I had my headphones on and was already doing emails when it all kicked off, but once I realized what was going on he was already near the front of the plane yelling about something. It maybe added 5 minutes to the boarding process.

He was a nice enough guy earlier, if not a little bit of a loudmouth. I might have asked the FA to sit him in the open seat next to me in MCE if it hadn't already spiraled out of control. Kind of a surreal experience that added to a 14 hour day that already saw a few hours in delays across a couple flights.

Maybe a little bit of turbulence, frayed nerves, or whatever... drinks weren't served on the flight. An email in the air resulted in 7,500 in bonus miles by the time I landed, though.

Safe travels!

Edit: And the bartender brought his credit card to the gate agent for them to make an announcent searching for him while we were getting on. He was probably too intoxicated to fly to begin with.

As I make my way through the beginnings of Grunge, I have no idea how to present The Sound Garden (I'm teasing).

Soundgarden could hold the spot as the first real grunge band, even if they and others dispute it. Amazing performances and a solid showing on Deep Six, along with the EPs Screaming Life and Fopp, led to a rabid following.

Aaaand then the terribly produced Ultramega OK came out. They quickly recovered, and to this day I do not understand why Louder Than Love isn't as big in everyone else's heart. Badmotorfinger and then a true string of critically accliamed albums came out, cementing them as both the pioneers and legends you think of today.

They marketed Cornell's naked torso and hair as much as his unorthodox voice, but Kim Thayil, along with the others, are rock gods themselves.

Over a couple of months it seemed like FAs were suddenly not serving two drinks at once. There were even posts here about it, so it wasn't just my personal experience.

I'm happy to report that the tide has shifted. I had no issues when ordering on the handful of flights in April. I typically only drink on the return trip, and have simply asked, "can you grab me two Heinekens so I don't have to bother you again?"

That is sometimes a lie when going coast to coast and wanting a third (don't judge me, you teetotalers, three beers in five hours is fine). Maybe there was some sort of emphasis at the beginning of the year due to unruly customers? Maybe someone pointed out that making money is better? Maybe AA does follow comments here? I don't care how it happened, just thankful to not have or hear that conversation over and over again.
