I’ve been trying to track down this short mystery story for a while.

Here’s what I remember about the plot:

• The setting is an apartment building. A woman is found dead — she apparently slipped on an earring, fell, and drowned with her face stuck in the toilet bowl.

• The other residents of the building gather and work through the case together, eventually concluding through deduction that a specific man (another resident or someone connected to the building) is the killer.

• The man is unable to defend himself.

• He snaps, grabs a rod or stick, and attacks the others.

• He ends up being struck by lightning and dies.

What I think I know:
