German citizenship through decent?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand whether I might qualify for German citizenship through descent and would appreciate any guidance.
Here is my family background on my maternal side:
My second great-grandfather was born in Germany in 1900.
He immigrated to the United States in 1926 and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1933.
He married my second great-grandmother (who was born in Austria) around 1927.
They had a daughter (my great-grandmother) born in the United States in 1928.
My great-grandmother later married an American in 1946.
My grandmother was born in 1943 in the U.S.
My mother was born in 1987, and I was born in 2007.
To my knowledge, none of the later generations (my great-grandmother, grandmother, or mother) held German citizenship or German passports, and I don’t believe any formal German citizenship was ever retained after my second great-grandfather’s naturalization in the U.S.
From what I understand, German citizenship generally passes through the paternal line in older cases, and I’m unsure whether it could still have been preserved through naturalization or other factors.
I’m trying to figure out if there is any realistic path for me to claim German citizenship through descent, or if it was likely lost when my second great-grandfather became a U.S. citizen in 1933.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

I can give any other info needed if I have knowledge of it
