Sources on Buddhist syncretism
I am looking for academic sources to write an essay on Buddhist syncretism and how it has interacted with other religions in Asia. Specifically, I am conducting a comparative analysis of regions such as East Asia (primarily Japan and Shinto) and South Asia (primarily the Indian subcontinent with Islam and Hinduism). Although I have found some sources, I would appreciate it if anyone could recommend more articles or books on the subject especially by non-Western authors.
Any personal opinions, ideas or insights into the local context would also be helpful and interesting for my research, bear in mind that this is not part of a formal work or university research project, I am simply researching and writing out of my own interest in the subject.
