iPhone model for senior father

Hope this is ok to post here. My senior father needs a new iphone.

He wants to stick with an iPhone because they are familiar. But doesn’t want to spend too much money as he does not need the latest/greatest model

I’m wondering basically what the oldest model you would still recommend purchasing in 2026 that will last him a few years. We don’t want it to be so old that it is no longer compatible with apps/updates (admittedly, I’m not sure how this works)

He will be purchasing it refurbished but paying extra for a new battery.

Any model is going to be a huge upgrade for him as I believe he is currently using an iPhone 7.

He mainly uses it for calls and text, email and music.

Would an iPhone 11 or 12 be sufficient? Or are we better off getting him a 13 or newer so it lasts longer?

I appreciate any advice or guidance. Thank you

Trying to remember a children’s book about bears who eat honey

I really can’t remember too much about it unfortunately except it was about bears, not super cartoonish illustrations - more like paintings. They ate honey from a honey pot at some point.

I think at some point the mama(?) bear left the cave to get honey for the babies

Late 90s/early 2000s

I am also in Australia in case it was an Aussie author

Edit: the bears were brown (or maybe black, but pretty sure they were brown)
