I hate when people think that Movie Princess Peach is a girlboss character.
There's a million different valid criticisms that you could make for both movies but one of them that's fundamentally stupid is that princess peach is a "girlboss" archetype in the derogatory sense. Her character in these movies is literally only a few notes away from the game version, people just don't realize it because she actually talks instead of blankly staring at mario all the time. I see the commentary that she's "too independent" and unaffectionate to mario and I just think we watched different movies. People think that cause mario's story is a "fish out of water" then a person who lived there her entire life and has delt with bowser at the same time is clearly too "overcompetent."
She literally falls in love with Mario the second they meet, the slowdown is from both of their perspectives they both felt a mutual connection to each other instantly. She does have some fun at the expense of mario when she judo throws him but its cause she's literally never met a human before and now there's one literally charging at her.
She's also very supportive of Mario, she instantly agreed to helping him along with saving her kingdom and personally training him. even when they're sitting after she's constantly encouraging mario, not just here but after the donkey kong fight too.
Sure, in the combat sense she's more trained then Mario but socially they're both super awkward. most of peaches "insults" to Mario are just her not being great at conversation and is almost never an insult intended to just be mean. Even on the combat point ever notice that throughout the entirety of the first movie that Peach almost is never able to win something unless Mario is also on screen? Sure she definitely stands her ground very well but she's constantly in an uphill battle, even the wedding she woulda been done for after getting blown up until Mario shows up.
The second movie doesn't follow everything I listed but she's still pretty similar, not to mention she was clearly crushing on Mario as much as he was on her.
