PSA for anyone replacing their own touchscreen in a 2018-2019 outback

You do NOT need to completely pull out the head unit and disconnect the wires.

Every video I’ve seen says to do this but it’s not necessary and makes the whole project more complicated than it needs to be.

Simply remove the screws to be able to slightly pull it out then just remove the 4 T10 screws to pull the screen off.

Well guys, it finally got me. 2018 screen delaminating.

Well guys, it finally got me. 2018 screen delaminating.

I was just talking about this last month in another post saying how I’m just counting down the days… and here it is!

Screen works about 90% of the time right now but just going to replace it myself before it gets worse.

I’ve seen plenty of recommendations to use Kinetic Vehicles screen replacement service. It’s $220 for the screen DIY replacement so I’m going to instead try this one off Amazon for half the price! I’ll report back soon and let you guys know how it goes! I suspect all of these screens come from the same place anyways…
