Hey all,
I’m considering buying a 2019 G30 530d xDrive Sport Line. 160,000 km, 25k EUR.
Most km were highway, pristine service history. DPF was replaced at 120k km, so it’s essentially new. EGR cooler recall completed. Recently had a microcrack on a turbo hose that may have contributed to the original DPF issue, full repair done at BMW dealer with warranty still active. Diagnostics and PPI passed cleanly. Drove perfectly on test drive.
I’ve been bashing my head against the wall for days on this. From everything I can see, the car is as good as a 160k km BMW can be. The seller is a family member who I trust. It’s not cheap, but the spec is loaded, and I haven’t been able to find a competitive offer anywhere in the EU market.
I’ve never owned a BMW before, and most of what I hear are horror stories. Highway breakdowns, 5,000+ EUR repair bills, cars spending more time at the shop than on the road. Financially I can absorb worst-case scenarios but I’d rather not be that owner.
So please, if any experienced BMW owners can weigh in: am I crazy for considering this at 160k km? Anything specific I should check beyond what’s been done? What’s your experience owning a 530d at higher mileages, and what should I budget for annual maintenance on a healthy B57?
Any input is much appreciated!
