“Wake up, Messiah.”
I felt a voice calling to me. I felt…confused. I tried looking around me, but all i was able to see where fuzzy shapes twisting and moving around me.
My mind was racing, as i tried to piece togheter what happened to me just a few moments ago…or was it longer ago? All that came to my mind were confused images and voices…i believe i saw a…wheat field? It seemed so familiar and yet, so distant.
Little by little, my surroundings began to unblur and i started looking around me, although i could not really recognize anything of what was around me.
The wooden floor creaked loudly as i started getting up on my feet. I was pretty sure i was in some kind of house, but it was in such a condition that i doubt anyone had even stepped foot in it for years.
Before i started exploring the structure, i heard again the voice that was calling to me earlier.
“Interesting. It seems my counltless efforts were not for nothing. Welcome back, Messiah.”
I looked around to find the source of the voice, yet I was not able to find it. At that point, he voice spoke again.
“Down here, Messiah.”
I tried following the Voice’s directions, so i looked down to find…
A strange, glowing blue creature looking at me.
It was fairly small, with a strange cross-like symbol at the center of its body, which i presumed was its eye. As for their shape, they resembled a blue flame, yet the base of their body seemed to be more solid and goo-like.
I bent down to try and further study that odd creature, but as soon as i did i felt it crawl on my arm and around my body, as it kept talking, more to themselves than to me:
“Interesting. Despite my analysis, it seems that your husk did retain its form quite nicely…although your new essence seems to be…unstable, to put it simply.”
I tried to ask for a clearer explanation, for i did not understand much of what that odd being was telling me. I say i tried, because little bastard did not really give me the time to say anything before continuing their monologue. Easy to say i was NOT happy with this.
“Of course, great Messiah, there were some issues i had to resolve in more…simple ways. For example, your right arm…i would suggest not to use it too much, i had to create one from scratch and it might take time for it to completely atfach itself…as for the head, there wasn’t much i could do in my current state.”
Despite my frustration with that little creature, i decided to check my arm and, to my surprise, i did feel it was in fact quite weak, the only thing keeping it attached to my torso being a big metal shoulder pad.
As for my head, i didn’t really have a way to see what that creature meant, so i walked around and found a small puddle of stagnant water i could use a s a mirror.
And so, i bent to see what my head supposedly had wrong. And, to my surprise…there WAS no head. All i was able to see was a flaming mass of light, similar to the shape of my exessively talkative companion.
I still, as of now, do not really know the reason i was able to see in the first place, since i did not really…have eyes to begin with. Yet, no matter how senseless it might be, it is sure better than being blind.
The little blue creatured crawled again to the ground, seemingly satisfacted with my reaction to this form he apparently “created” for me. I could sense it was about to start talking again, so i questioned it before it could get back to speaking what for me was incomprehensible nonsense. If they really had to say something, then at least let it be something that could be of use to me.
“Say, little blue creature.”, I began. “How am i supposed to trust you? I just woke up from a slumber lasted God knows how long, and my mind isn’t exactly in its beat form. So, how could i be sure you are not my captor, or at the very least an enemy? And most importantly, what is this place? What…happened to me?” I said, as I gestured to the shoulder pad and flaming head.
And so, unsurprisingly, the flaming creature started speaking again.
“You see, Messiah, i am, in no way, your enemy. In fact, you might consider me, for now, your only ally.”
At that moment, i didn’t know if i should have been more concerned by the fact that those might have been lies or the fact that my supposed ally looked like they would perish by being stepped on by any medium sized person. But alas, i let it continue its discourse.
“As for this place, it is merely the starting point of a long journey that awaits you, my Messiah. You see, a long time ago, an endless night had fallen in this world, but yet, prophecies stated the arrival of a hero, a Messiah from another world, that would bring the new Sun to the top of the mightly lighthouse of this world, and the day would come back anew. But, when the Messiah came, guided by the voice of God, a terrible predicament had fallen anew unto this world. Our god, the supposed guide of the Messiah, had forsaken us,”
As the creature continued with its story, their voice kept rising stronger. It sure worked for the dramatic effect, but it also made me grateful i did not have phisical ears or they’d be bleeding out right now.
“As i was saying,” continued the creature, in a tone that i supposed was to scold me for my lack of interest, “Our God, in which we put our hopes and beliefs, abandoned us to die. Fortunately I, in what could else have been my final moments, was able to save a part of the world and, with great efforts, of the Messiah. But this world, even before being denied God’s assistance, another plague was slowly destroying our world. A relentless corruption that even the Messiah would not have been able to cease. After God abandoned us, however, this corruption…evolved. It grew stronger, so much so that all that I was able to save, all that remains of that world. Me, and most of all, You,“
The creature stopped for a moment.
“all that is left of the Messiah.”
