I have two Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSDs in a RAID1 on my customer's PC. I wanted to update them to the latest firmware (8B2QJXD7) because one of the drives kept dropping out of the RAID periodically. One was on 4B2QJXD7 and one was on 5B2QJXD7. (The one with 5B2QJXD7 was dropping out in case it helps anyone)
I pulled them out of the PC and put them in my own computer with RAID OFF / AHCI ON, one at a time. Samsung Magician said the first one needed to go from 4B2QJXD7 to 8B2QJXD7 and it updated, no problem.
Magician said the second one (5B2QJXD7) had NO update. So, I used the ISO to create bootable media and installed 8B2QJXD7 on the second drive. No problem - successful.
So the question - why was Samsung Magician blind to the update on one but updated the other one? So strange. How can I trust this program?
