My sons first birthday is coming up. We were planning on doing a small little celebration just us (mom dad baby). My mom wants to join, but I kind of wanted it to just be us for this one. The first birthday feels really intimate. Is that weird or inappropriate for me to say? I know it’s our family and we get to decide, but i’m just wondering if I should be more empathetic to her wanting to be there on the day. Can anyone relate?
