How does one know what to invest in??

I see different posts on how much people have invested and the growth over time and it amazes me always. I started investing about 2 years ago and was told to play it safe and keep my money in vfv or s&p500 or whatever.
But the growth is so slow. Where do people go to stay current about stocks to watch out for and when to capitalize on investing? I wanna see my money grow for real!!
Any tips ? Please and thanks

Finding a job in Ottawa

How are people even able to land job interviews these days? I feel like I’d knock it out the park at that stage but been struggling to land a single interview.
Background is sociology and I’m looking for partnership building and stakeholder management type of jobs.

I live in Ottawa and am not bilingual but jeez!! Job market seems insufferable right now. I tailor cover letters and resumes to jobs I genuinely believe I have a fair shot at too, and I haven’t been able to land a single interview.
