I hired a house keeper and want to know besides picking up clutter what else should I do so they don’t hate coming lol

Like I told my kids they had to clean the toilet before the cleaners got here because I’m terrified they’ll see poo or pee. Is this too far

Rubber bath mat stuck to tile floor - best way to remove?

Old rubber-backed bath mat left black residue and backing stuck to my bathroom tiles. Has anyone dealt with this? What worked best - WD-40, acetone, or something else?

Trustworthy Housekeeper / Cleaning Lady (NYC)

I'm in search of a FT housekeeper / cleaner for a 2bed/2bath apartment - can guarantee 40hrs/week, but would prefer some flexibility in schedule each week. Any referrals/recs on companies that provide daily services? I've tried posting on FB groups for leads as well but not much luck.

Vacuum Cleaner

Hello! I’ve been in the cleaning business for 2+ years. I have a Hoover that I use for hard surface floors & upholstery. It seems that I can only get a few months out of this “commercial grade” vacuum before it starts to malfunction. Was curious on what vacuums you guys (business owners or non business owners) use for your every day cleans! I’m needing something that can easily handle hours worth of cleaning as I clean multiple homes per week.
Thank you!

How much to pay cleaning lady in the Salem area…

I recently lost my cleaning lady. She cleaned for us for five years and I adore her, but she has too many little ones to care for at this time to keep cleaning homes. Since then, I’m struggling to find a good fit. I’m wondering if I’m paying enough. The person who is currently helping me is working about 3-4 hours and I pay $200. The house is very clean (I like to clean myself) and only two adults live here. And it’s big, but the part inhabited (the part that has to be routinely cleaned) is very small. Salem Oregon btw.

How do I clean this?

I am attempting to clean YEARS worth of buildup on this floor. I scrubbed the area with LA’s Totally Awesome Cleaner and Degreaser for 2 hours and this is my progress.

Does anyone know what type of floor this is? Or if it is safe to use ammonia on it? Or if it would be better to replace the floor?

Immediate Help- Large Water Stain West Elm Hamilton Couch

If any help can be provided, a couple days ago my water bottle accidentally spilled on my tan leather West Elm couch cushion (aniline leather in burnt sienna color). I soaked up the water as best I could that evening, and then followed recommendations online from leather sites. Thus after allowing the cushion to air dry 1.5 days , I then gently water feathered the entire cushion w/microfiber cloth as recommended, hoping it would blend the original water stain.

In the photo , the smaller water stain is the original , and the larger was created after water feathered entire cushion. Woke up today and am not understanding why a second ring formed after feathering the entire cushion yesterday. It only made things worse and now I have a 2 large stains and the second is even larger, just awful.

I have Leather Honey conditioner, but I am afraid to do anything further to the cushion as I worry the conditioning could keep the water stains permanently because the stain itself looks damaged .

Before reaching out to a professional, is there anything I can do to fix this at home? Greatly appreciate any help or advice. Thank you!

How do I clean these marks from my bathroom sink?

I used to keep a soap dish there (hence the blue colour) and over time noticed this forming. Is there any way to get it back to normal or should I accept that it will possibly come out of my deposit?

Looking for suggestions of Shower cleaner

Hi, It's about time for my monthly Bathroom cleanup. I've recently purchased a tool similar to the HOTO Flexi Cordless Spin Scrubber (https://sameday.costco.com/store/costco/products/92627004-hoto-flexi-cordless-spin-scrubber). Purchased because I'm tired of bucket with sponge.

I'm wondering if any of you could recommend me a good shower/bathtub soap. Like a foamy soap I can spray from the bottle, let it sit for a few mins, than let the Scrubber do the work. Appreciate any assistance.

To explain further, the Scrubber I purchased is similar to the one I linked, but it's a different brand. I'm just to lazy to go downstairs to the garage and check the brand

I need to know if I'm over reacting

I have a small- ish 1000 sq ft, and I hate cleaning, so I've been trying out various cleaners for the past 9 months. I hadn't been super happy with previous cleaners, and one of my clients recommended someone to me. She came to my house to do an estimate, and we talked about how I wanted a set day/time as that was a gripe I had with another cleaner. I want to know ahead of time so I can make sure things are put away that I don't want out, and to make their job easier. We set a day, and then right before, she tells me she needs to move it because some family stuff. Fine. I don't make a big deal about it. We moved it to today. When she first came, I did tell her that parking was on the street, and today she parked in my driveway. I live in a duplex and we have set parking spaces so my neighbor couldn't park in her spot because she parked in it. I didn't notice this on the camera till way later or I'd have asked her to move her car to the street. I've only met her once at this point and we've chatted only a handful of times via text. I'm a nail tech, so I don't really check my phone much while working as I am focusing on my clients, but I checked my phone quickly and saw a text from her that her daughter was done for the day at camp, and she was almost done with my house, and wanted to know if her husband could drop her daughter at my house. I was sort of flabbergasted. Like, I don't know you. What would make you think I would be ok with having your kid in my house? I'm barely comfortable having cleaners in my house but I do it, because I hate cleaning. Then my ring starts blowing up, and I see a man getting out of his car, and walking up to my house, and going up the stairs and he goes into my house!! Wtf? Again, I don't know you. Why tf would you think it's acceptable to let your husband in my house? He comes back out a few minutes later. I have no idea what he did in my house, but I do know I'm kind of pissed. I never responded to her text, and a while later she text again, and said never mind. Like I'm sorry, your child care issues are not my problem. If this was going to be a problem, maybe you shouldn't have accepted the job? And again, it's not like she's been my cleaner for years. And you moved my day, parked in my driveway when I told you to park on the street, wanted to have your child at my house, and did have your husband at my house. Obviously I paid her, but I haven't said anything about all this yet, because I'm really angry and I don't want to be rude, so I've been trying to calm down. I was honestly shaking when I saw her husband go in my house. Tf was she thinking? Am I crazy? Idek what to say to her but I'm kinda done with her. How would you fire someone in this situation?

I need to know if I’m being unreasonable

Hi All! I recently hired a cleaning service to do a “deep clean” of my 1500 sq foot apartment. The company has about 50 stellar reviews on Google, and seemed nice and communicative.

Their prices seemed very fair - they quoted me $278 for 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths, a kitchen, dining room, living room and office. They ensured me the cleaners would dust, mop, scrub walls and baseboards, vacuum, etc, on top of all other general cleaning. I was told the deep cleaning would take no more than 6 hours, with two individuals doing the cleaning.

We were originally scheduled for last Sunday, but they had to cancel due to a family emergency. They let me know in advance and I completely understood, things happen! We rescheduled for today at 8 am. At 7:45, the scheduling person for the company let me know the cleaners would be there before 9 am. At 9:30 am, they still weren’t there.

The scheduling person said their van had broken down and they were waiting for a jump. She offered me $10 off the price. The cleaners arrived at 10:15 am and left at 1:45 - for a total of 3.5 hours.

I’ve attached pictures and videos of what I came home to. Windowsills still with a thick layer of dirt, the bed sloppily made, lots of hair and dirt all over the floors, including the bathroom.

I consider myself a pretty reasonable person, but I’m really unhappy with the service I received. I assumed a deep cleaning would be a lot more detailed. I’m communicating with the company now, and it looks like they’re going to try to send the cleaners back tomorrow. Am I being unreasonable? Does this look like an apartment that was deep cleaned to you? I can have high standards, and I’m open to listening!

Thank you in advance

The Irish spring 5 in 1 trick didn’t help

I tried using the Irish spring 5 in 1 on this shower pan on 3 separate occasions. On more than one of those occasions I had it sit on the surface for over 24 hrs with paper towels on top (I saw others say to use plastic wrap but I didn’t try that yet). I don’t think it did much. What should I try next? Any advice appreciated

ETA: I’m redoing it again, trying the plastic wrap on top now. I appreciate all the other suggestions I’ve received so far and will keep them in mind for the future.

Can someone just tell me the best washing machine cleaner without making me read 47 articles

i just bought my first washer like 6 weeks ago (used, from facebook marketplace) and the guy said it was fine but it smells kind of musty already and my clothes dont always smell totally clean when they come out. so i figured ok i need to actually clean this thing.

but then i googled it and now im completely lost. there are tablets, liquids, powder stuff, things that go in the drum, things that go in the detergent tray, some people say use vinegar and baking soda, others say that actually wrecks the machine. i dont know who to believe and i dont want to mess up a washer i just paid money for.

im not looking for a deep dive into washing machine chemistry or whatever, i just need someone to point me at one thing that actually works and wont cause problems. whats the best washing machine cleaner for someone who literally just wants to sort this out and move on with their life?
