This is just my opinion, I fully understand that there is many reasons to be into vinyl and my way isn’t the best way.
BUT I personally prefer older damaged vinyl, not like destroyed unplayable vinyl, but the hiss, slight off sound of a slightly warped or scratched vinyl beats a brand new one every day of the week for me.
I saw this video about how a vinyl was worthless trash because it had been slightly damaged by being kept in a pvc sleeve that caused the album to have a background hiss, thus warranting the guy tossing it in the bin. That is nuts to me, I’d never want to intentionally damage a record (in fact I try my best to preserve them in the state I get them) but thinking not perfect is trash is odd to me, for me the imperfections are like 75% of the charm.
Think about it, if you have a good player, good set up, and a perfect album, it’s gonna sound… like digital. Not that that’s bad, I appreciate the sentiment of analog for the sake of analog.
The sound of that old thrift store vinyl beats Perfection any day for me, thoughts?
