Mugi TCG - Looking for community feedback

Hi nakamas!

I'm the solo developer of Mugi TCG, an iOS OPTCG companion app I launched a month and a half ago (I know, another one).

I'm making this post now because I think this latest version I've shipped (12 so far) is in a good place. That said, I'm not gonna say it's the ultimate OPTCG app. There's still a lot to improve, add or change. That's why I'm here.

So let's get to the point: what can Mugi do? I'll break it down into 3 groups: card collection and price tracking, deck building and stats, and meta exploration.

Card Collection and Price Tracking

  • Currently only includes English cards (nice start..). I'm working on adding the Japanese card catalog, but it'll take some time. As most of you know, since AAs in OPTCG don't have unique IDs, it's tricky to track or be sure you've got every available card. That's why I've added a way to report missing cards both in the app settings and on the Discord.
  • Prices from both TCGPlayer and Cardmarket. You can check raw market prices and lowest listings in both marketplaces, along with a 14-day price history per card (will go up to 30 days in the future). In Settings you can pick your preferred marketplace to display and track prices. This setting also applies to scanner results. If there's any issue with a specific card, there's a "report card issue" option in every card detail view.
  • A card scanner. I've seen a lot of disagreement on how scanners should work in this type of app. Some users prioritize speed and don't mind a second tap to pick the right variant, others want the scanner to never miss. In Mugi it's a mix of both: the scanner is fully on-device and private for speed, it identifies the card ID first, then uses OCR to try to detect the variant. If it passes a confidence threshold, you get the result directly. Otherwise, the manual selector pops up. The problem? It currently doesn't detect DON!s. That's something I'm working on.
  • Custom Collections. Collections you can create to track or wishlist specific cards. I've also added a fixed collection called "All my cards" that shows every card you own. A few users had been asking for this.

Deck Building and Stats

  • A deck builder with standard validation (deck size, rotations, banned cards and banned pairs)
  • Missing card validation (warns you if you don't actually own cards in your decklist)
  • Deck share image generator
  • Deck proxies PDF generator, with a B&W option
  • Deck stats: general stats plus per-leader stats (going 1st or 2nd)

Meta Exploration

  • Meta decks by format
  • Major CS tournament results including top 32 lists. You can add any of them to your decks in 1 tap.

My Roadmap

  • Add Japanese cards with Cardmarket prices
  • Improve the deck builder card filters with more gameplay-oriented ones

Sorry for the long text. I'd love to hear your feedback, positive but especially negative. That's what actually helps me prioritize what to improve.

Help me understand one thing

So in other TCGs, high rarity cards usually have a lower rarity version to make them more accessible for play. I was looking into Naruto TCG and checking the full card list, and I noticed that some Mythos cards, for example the Itachi Uchiha - Hunting Naruto Mythos card, don't. Is this intentional, or am I missing something?

Cooked some new features for Neon TCG this week

Hi again chooms!

I'm Jonathan, the solo developer behind Neon TCG.

First of all, huge thanks for all the support and feedback I got on the launch post, I really appreciate it!

Just sharing what I've been cooking this week. Hope you like it!

Full card browser

I added a search icon in the "Sets" section so you can browse all cards from one place without having to open each set individually.

Gigs/Street Cred tool (this week top feature)

Don't have your gigs handy, or prefer tracking your Street Cred in a more comfortable way? Neon TCG includes a tool that lets you play without physical gigs. Just put the phone between both players and you're ready!

Deck Share Image

Export and share an image of any deck you've cooked, with a QR code that makes importing easier for other chooms using the app.

Print Proxies

New feature to generate PDF proxies for your just-cooked deck, including a B&W option.

General UI Improvements

"All my cards" collection

A fixed collection in "My Collections" that lets you access all your collected cards from one place, no filters needed.

As always, I'd love to hear your feedback or any feature requests.

If you're enjoying the app, a quick review on the App Store goes a long way!

Thank you!

Hi chooms!

So I've been developing TCG companion apps for iOS for a while, and after buying my Netrunner kit I figured, why not? So I've been working on Neon TCG.

Current features:

  • Collection tracking and management
  • Card browser
  • Custom collections
  • Deck builder with full deck building constraints validation (RAM constraints, min/max deck size, etc.), a feature to see which cards you're missing to be able to play the deck and import/export by code
  • Game-focused filters (really proud of this part)

I've tried to give it a cyberpunk look and feel, hopefully I've pulled it off.

Roadmap:

  • Card scanner to identify cards (planning to keep it fully on-device so it's as fast as possible and stays private)
  • A two-player screen with a GIG/Street Cred helper to make playing easier when you don't have dice/tokens handy
  • Maybe a community feature for sharing decks and discussing the game

Would love to hear your thoughts, any feedback (good or bad) or recommendations are very welcome!

Thank you!
