Boy wakes up in a research facility in a rainforest and flees with a girl until they find a bunker of some kind (childrens book)

I remember vividly there was some virus, which the father (?) of the boy researched on, C4 played a prevalent role and the skin of the girl was described as „olive“ which confused me as a kid.
There was a sequence in which the two MCs ran down a slope in the rainforest while it was raining, and found shelter in an old (nazi?) bunker afterwards.
I guess it was part of a series, but I only read the first one. It had a green, rainforest-themed cover.
