Just started Oathbringer and have to take a moment

I am not finished with the first, or maybe the only, Hearthstone segment in Part 1. Kaladin just laid Roshone out and I’m hooked.

I was looking forward to the reunion between Kaladin and his parents. It went pretty much as expected. I think we all knew that his mom and dad wouldn’t blame him for Tien and would just be happy to see him. I also expected them to treat him like the child he was when he left.

I still don’t know Hessina’s and Lirin’s situation. I expected them to either be destitute or run out of town. Hessina was about to tell Kal something before Lirin interrupted. My first thought was that Hessina and Lirin were estranged on some level because grief does that sometimes but I don’t think that’s it. Knowing Brandon I probably won’t find out until Part 4 lol.

Anyway I haven’t been this excited since Dalinar gave up his shardblade.

Ok might as well put some other thoughts out there. I’m glad there’s no explicit indication that Adolin is going to the dark side… yet. We haven’t been in his head so who knows. Him carrying on as normal is a bit concerning.

I don’t have any predictions for other characters or factions. The Sons of Honor, I don’t know what to make of them. The Ghostbloods are despicable and I hope Shallan/Veil takes them out. The Diagram? I kind of think they are seeking the right solution by the wrong means. This whole series feels like a Philosophy 101 course which isn’t a bad thing.

Ok my one crazy theory. I want the Ten Fools to be real. Except they aren’t fools, just… less idealized versions of the Heralds and maybe more invested in Roshar’s future. I’m thinking of Palona, who has to be at least a Herald. Of course the Fools and the Heralds could be one and the same which would make a ton of sense.

Sorry I just had to take a quick break and appreciate this moment. I actually stopped reading in Part 5 of WoR a couple years ago so it’s super exciting to continue into the unknown.
