Later this month I’m having an oesophageal manometry test and a 24-hour pH/impedance test, and honestly I’m pretty anxious about it all.

I’m 27 and have been on Lansoprazole for around 10 years (GERD runs in my family). I have to stop taking it a week before the tests, which is the part I’m most worried about. In the past, if I’ve even forgotten a dose, I end up in pretty severe pain by late morning and it can take a few days to settle again afterwards.

Has anyone got any advice for getting through the week off PPIs? Anything that helped make it more manageable?

Also, any tips for the actual tests themselves would be appreciated too.

One other thing — during the 24-hour test, is it worth deliberately eating/drinking things that normally trigger reflux for me (foods I usually avoid) so the results properly show what’s going on? I’m hoping these tests will finally lead to some positive action/treatment.

Thanks in advance!
