So I currently work a desk job and think it’s driving me absolutely insane. I am currently an environmental health and safety specialist for a manufacturing company and have been doing it for 3 years now (24M). I feel like I see no outcome from the work I do and am starting to get less and less motivated by the work because I just complete tasks all day to never actually see if I am changing anything. I’ve always been more about doing things with my hands and have recently got onto a friends excavator and absolutely loved it. I ran it for about a whole day and the time went by so fast.

Would it be stupid for me to leave my pretty good paying desk job if I got accepted into a heavy machinery job? There’s a union nearby me I’ve been looking into as well.
