How do you practice religion? What if I want to start?

Hello everyone! I have some questions that I hope some christians can maybe help me with.

I've(27F) identified as an atheist for my entire teen and adult years of my life. In recent years, I've dealt with suicide ideation and depression as well as several other disorders that I don't care to get into. I was recently admitted into a psychiatrict hospital again and discovered that a lot of adults with mental health issues tend to lean towards religion in their darkest times. I've always thought something so fantastical as the bible could never exist, especially when no humans today have actual proof, just unanswered questions that lead to an assumption. However, Since my hospital visit, I've thought deeply about the more mental health and self care sides of religion.

So I was wondering, Do y'all use religion for more mental health and self care reasons(such as giving yourself good afirmations and watching/reading nice uplifting christian content) or do you do it out of faith and/or because it's a social norm where you live? And finally, how do you practice religion? I want to try some things to see if it helps my mental health. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
