Hello, for about the past week, I have been experiencing noticeable soreness / tightness above my left ankle. I’m pretty sure it’s because I overloaded too quickly and added a new day of running too hastily. I had one week recently where I increased my mileage from around 9 miles per week to 11 miles per week, and I’m pretty sure that’s what caused this. I’m not a super fast runner (usually between 12-11 / mi pace) and don’t do interval runs. In February, I started adding some strength training but it’s pretty moderate dumbbell arm/ leg exercises twice per week. Admittedly, I am not always the best at stretching post run.
The issue with my ankle seems most prominent in the morning and seems to get better once I start moving around. I have noticed my heel is sometime sore as well. It’s not really painful at all. Just a noticeable soreness/tightness. I also have now noticed that the issue seems to gravitate briefly to my left knee and as of this morning, my left thigh/quad area.
It bums me out but I’m staying off running and any moderate strength training until I can see a PT. But just wondering what this could all be and if there are any specific exercises that might be helpful.
