UPDATE to post about adulteratation of avocado mayonnaise

Consumer Labs published a review on July 30,2026 of avocado oil purity, freshness, and taste, which included both national and store brands. Unfortunately, the national brand data was the old one from UC Davis from 2020.

New UC Davis study found most 100% avocado mayonnaise are adulterated

A new study from UC Davis found that "most mayonnaise samples and all avocado oil salad dressings fell outside the Codex standard ranges for C16:0, C16:1 and C18:0," meaning they contained oils other than 100% pure avocado oil, including seed oils. Both Chosen Foods brand and Primal Kitchens failed. Back to making it homemade (good thing it's easy). https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2772502226007274

Almost bought this, but looked much closer

My favourite sugar free 85% Dark Chocolate sweetened with stevia and erythritol is out of stock everywhere. I almost bought this one, "sweetened with Stevia". Then, I looked at the ingredient list on the back. It also contained maltitol. Nope. Hard pass.

(Full Disclosure: I wrote the article below in January when I researched how maltitol has a significant impact on blood sugar and insulin. I learned the hard way.

6 years ago, this group shared my tweet about my T2D remission (formerly Joy Kiddie, MSc, RD), changed my name to Joy Erdile. Yesterday, I finally joined Reddit! I'm still that Dietitian that follows, writes about and teaches the science on ketogenic diets.

Hi everyone! I'm a Registered Dietitian in private practice for 18 years and licensed in BC, Alberta and Ontario, Canada. I just joined Reddit and am delighted to now be part of this group. I just wrote and posted a new series of articles under the "Food for Thought" tab on my BBDNutrition website about "Alpha Cell Dominance" which is a legit biological challenge of a long-term keto in Type 2 diabetes remission.
