Cockroaches in Roger’s Road

Hello everyone. I’m a pharmacy student who just recently moved into Roger’s road on the bottom floor. Since I moved in I’ve had four bug sighting in my bedroom, including a small roach. There’s also decent amount of humidity in the apartment, and a humidifying in the room on 24/7. The place I moved into apparently had a roach problems which housing said they took care of over the summer.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with these? This honestly hasn’t been a great first impression of housing for me.

Don’t let failure be the end

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One day I was praying, happy with the advancement with my relationship with God. I was in progress of conquering of my sins. I asked the lord, what other faults do you see in me? Then I got a curveball I initially didn’t understand “pride”. I was confused. I’m not one to think myself higher than others, and I always try my best to be humble. Once I asked “in what way am I prideful” it was radio silence.

Later I went to the pharmacy where I worked. I did my usually operation, then I came across something. There was an important doc I needed to go through, and I didn’t know how to do it. Instead of immedialty asking for help, I left it and got busy with something else. My bosses eventually noticed this, and commented on it numerous times.

“Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.”Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’ve always feared failure, because after failing so many times, I believed failure became a reflection of me. I was embarrassed to show I didn’t know something, or sometimes admit I didn’t. Instead of making me look competent, it ended up making me more foolish, even harming my effectiveness.

“And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.””‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Anyways the moral of the story is… don’t be afraid of your failures or the past( shout out lion king). True failure isn’t messing up, but not admitting and learning from it. Our identity isn’t what we do, it’s in him. God can do more with a flawed person with a humble hard, then competent one with a prideful one.

“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

EMET

Emet in Hebrew means steady and trustworthy, one of the words to describe God.

Last year I graduated college, which honestly I can’t describe but the best 4 years of my life. I wanted badly to stay, but I felt God calling me back home after I graduated.
While it’s nice to have the degree, I can’t say things have been great since leaving college. I’ve missed my friends badly, job search was pure discouragement, and lastly responsibilities.

This year has been a transition year, realizing that I’m closer to being a true adult, and that’s been absolutely terrified. The more I gain in adult responsibilities, the less I really feel qualified to be one.

I’ll be head to pharmacy school this fall. When job searching for tech positions around my school, I realized that I’d no long be a tech, and have to upgrade into a pharmacy intern, since I’ll get my intern license during school. This obviously means more responsibilities than I’m used to now.

At this point I just start worrying, this is more than I could ever bear, ever accomplish myself. then I remember something: trust God

**“**My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”2 Corinthians 12:9–10 (ESV)

Whether in your life ur walk with God, we’ll encounter situations we feel were not equip for. Maybe we’re not equip, or just too overwhelmed, but I know one thing. God will walk with you, and equip you, throughout your time. There will be hard times and failures, and it’ll be our responsibility to overcome them, but he’ll always be with you in it. He’s a faithful God.

We all have heard of the gospel, and maybe even accepted it. But a month, a year, maybe a decade later it becomes stale? Maybe it doesn’t change us? Why?

People have mixed the gospel with their own opinions and agendas. We can even center the gospel on us, making salvation dependent on our works. This is not the gospel.

Gospel is about being born again

“Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’”

‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s not about bad people trying to be good, but dead people meeting a savior.

The belief about Christianity is it revolves around the things you do. You have to follow rule and regulations, doing good deeds, and that would determine your salvation. But the gospel isn’t about turning bad people good, but dead people alive.

Setting you free

“Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.””

‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The gospel is a life you get to live. A life long journey if sanctification.

Many Christians pray a prayer, and fill out a form, and then are the same a month later. You are God’s dwelling place, a home of the Holy Spirit, where it works continually in you. It’s not about human effort attempting to be perfect, but the ongoing transformation from perfection.

The gospel is centered on Jesus

“No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.” ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Israelites were plagued with snakes in their journey to the promise land. God instructed Moses to build a replica snake and attach it to a pole. Then all who looked at it would be healed. Jesus tells them the Old Testament was around him the whole time. Just as the s are was made to save the people, so was Jesus brought to save us.
