Id love to talk about the photo above and what your opinions are. What do you agree with or what do you totally not agree with. Any suggestions for games I might really like based off the list above and some I should steer clear of.
Favorite game - this is probably the first game that really grabbed me. Gameplay to me was just out of this world and I loved the exploration. I was a Nintendo kid moving forward for a long time partly due to this game.
Best story - loved the first mass effect and the second was so good. Spent hours making sure my whole team was fully loyal for the best ending. The whole reaper story was great and then finding out the collectors were actually protheans enslaved and turned to husks was a great little detail mixed into the story. Working with the team some new and some old just taking on the big bad that seems unbeatable.
Favorite art- I really appreciate how far video games have come. The realism in expression were pretty good. Wasn't there some claims AI was used in a lot of the design though? Regardless, I just really liked the look of the game.
Personal impact - was the driver behind my love for choice based impact games.
Combat - not only was the Arkham series great, being able to dip in and out of combat just had me feeling like I was actually batman.
Overhated- honestly once zero build dropped, i started playing again. Its not as bad as people think. Paces really well, minimal issues with frame rate, or connection. Its a fun game to play with friends if you dont take it so seriously.
Underrated - i had zero idea this game was coming out. I love mythology, so I appreciated the background. Played a lot like of LoZ game to me and was locked in instantly. Plus zeus in the game is mythologically accurate. Total turd, but at least hes funny.
Overrated - looks good, plays great, but i couldnt get invested in Arthur. Loved RDR1, just felt bored playing 2.
Needs a remake - i was too young to really appreciate this game. I tried really hard to get past certain points and just never finished it. Remake it so I can play it with updated gameplay and graphics!
Criminally overlooked- I know one other person that has played this game personally in real life. This game on gamecube was a staple to my friend group for a bit back in the day. I used to rent it every single weekend until eventually I asked to just buy it from the rental place. Being able to play 4p co-op and the minimal progression to me was pretty cool back in 2004ish. I still have it to this day.
Favorite protagonist- link (specifically OoT link) is just my dude. Out of all of them, adult link in this game was just badass. I wanted an earring simply because of adult link.
Favorite antagonist - Fontaine just mind controlling and manipulating you all game made for a great plot twist.
Best soundtrack - rip and tear... nuff said.
Best multiplayer - okay so this is totally subjective. I meam best multiplayer in the sense that I played this game for years and had a ton of fun with friends. Made a few friends out of it too. I know the servers weren't always great, but id love to go back to playing this for the first time 12ish years ago.
Not my thing - turn based aside from pokemon was never really my thing. A friend explained the story a little bit and im like okay ill give it a try. Wasn't sure about it at first but by the time I fought the boss in the underwater map and got the parrying down, I fell in love with it. Open to trying more turn based stuff because of this game.
Turn my brain off - just a simple game thats easy to play especially if you just want to play creative.
Best with friends - deep rock is a blast! A little repetitive, but if you have a crew to play with, its great. Leveling up together, trying out different play styles, and learning your role with a team is better than trying to go it alone.
Best retro game - my bias may show but the first system i remember playing is sega genesis. I played this game a lot because it was simple enough for a 3-4 year old kid to "win." Kind of sparked my interest for fighting games later with the tekken series.
Nostalgic childhood game - Gex was funny to a young kid and interesting. It was silly and weird which I appreciated. You have a lizard, who is a spy? But also rides a snowboard and drives a tank while wearing weird outfits every level.
Everyone should play - l4d2 was such a blast when it first came out. I love anything zombie and l4d1, so picked this up right away. Multiplayer was such a big improvement over the second and playing against other people was awesome. Strategizing with your friends as zombies how to best attack the human players was so much fun. If you have some friends and a way to play it, I highly recommend giving it a shot. The harder difficulties I remember being pretty wild.
