Additional Fasting for weight loss

Short version: I had extreme fatigue during my last cut. So this cut I switched to fasting 24 hours one day a week with a smaller deficit on the other days. I have started feeling fatigued again. Should I add a second 24 hour fast?

Context:

Male, 28, 6’2”, 288, BF 20 to 25%

I have been fasting 24 hours 1 day a week. Then over the course of many weeks I have been adding a deficit to the other 6 days. Right now, I am at a 300 daily deficit. My maintenance is 3500 so that is a 1.5 lb loss per week.

However, this past week I am starting to see the fatigue I saw during my last cut. I was in bed all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Plus my sleep has been terrible this past week.

Is this a result of my cut lasting too long? I am on week 11. Is this a result of me losing too much weight? I am 17 pounds down. Adding in muscle water weight I probably lost it is most likely around 12 real pounds lost. Or is this a result of my deficit being too steep?

Unless the recommendation would be to stop the cut. I would plan to switch to fasting for 24 hours two days a week.

This is because, during my last cut when i didn’t fast, the fatigue set in at a measly 500 cal daily deficit. So the fast let me push further this time.

So I think if I set my other days to maintenance, then fast 24 hours Monday and Thursday. I can lose two pounds per week without fatigue.

Need some guidance

Need some guidance for my next diet

During my last diet, from January to May. I essentially hit every roadblock possible. Having too high a deficit, losing too much muscle, extreme fatigue, and extreme water retention. This resulted in me starting and stopping my diet throughout the past months. In the end, I lost 7 pounds of fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle. Confirmed with dexa.

For my next phase of dieting, what should my direction be? I have two options: first, reduce calories slowly every week, or fast 1 day a week while eating at maintenance.

For some context, I am 6'2", 301lb, and 24% bf. My maintenance calories are roughly 3500kcal.

During my first phase, I had extreme diet fatigue. My brain simply would not work. So I reduced the deficit. After a couple of weeks, the fatigue would return. Rinse and repeat. Due to my size, I should be able to handle a 3-pound deficit, let alone a 0.5-pound deficit. But I couldn't do it. The fatigue would return.

So, for option 1, by slowly increasing the deficit, I am hoping I can push off this fatigue as long as possible. Then, like last time, once I hit that fatigue limit, I would raise the calories and continue on.

For option 2, since my maintenance calories roughly equal 1 pound of fat loss. Every Sunday, or a better day of the week, if someone has a recommendation. I would fast for 24 hours, and for the rest of the week, I would eat at maintenance. I am hoping that by eating my normal calories during the week, I will not experience the same fatigue as last time. I would be losing less weight than Google says I can, but I would be happy with 1 pound per week.

I am leaning towards option 2, but I wanted to consult others for their opinions before moving forward. I plan to start on May 26th or May 31st, depending on whether I do option 1 or 2.

I appreciate any advice, happy Friday.

So, i understand weight fluctuations are normal during a cut. However, at the end of my cut, i started to see extreme weight fluctuations. (This is the reason I stop my cut)

296 to 305 pounds in one week. No diet changes. Googled around, increased calories by 500. 5 pounds lost the following two days bringing me to 300lbs.

Then another 7 days passes and im back up to 305. So I increase calories again by 500. Which returns me to maintenance. The next two days I drop 7 pounds to 298

However, it has been another week. I am back up to 305 pounds. Even at my maintenance calories.

What is going on?? Are my hormones not regulated?? Why am i storing so much water and why am i storing still while eating a maintenance??
