Happy Mother’s Day butch mamas!
Went with my femme wife and two kids to brunch today. The host greeted us and handed my wife a flower with a salutation. Our youngest immediately turned to me and asked if I would be given a flower as well. The host had the decency to look mortified and immediately handed me a flower with the same kindness.
Then when our waiter came he wished my wife a happy Mother’s Day. I pick my battles, and this wasn’t it today.
But it stings. I know some fellow butch women prefer male pronounces, enjoy or at least don’t mind being misgendered, or will celebrate Father’s Day as their own. I’m not one of those women.
So if you were feeling a little unseen today too, I see you, and hope the time with your family (however that looks) was joyful.
