Hey everyone,
I'm in a tight spot with an IKEA PAX corner wardrobe and in need for a hack. My frame is 42.5" wide but I only have 41.5" of clearance in my alcove.
The Problem: I need to find 1 inch of space. The instructions say to leave a gap behind the unit for the hinged doors to clear, but if I push it back against the wall, those doors won't open.
The Constraints:
- I have 1/2" baseboards I'm not willing to remove.
- I can't find narrower hinged doors that fit.
- I’m considering a sliding mirror door but don't know if it works on a corner unit.
Questions:
- Has anyone successfully pushed this unit further back than the "required" gap?
- Know of any 3rd party narrow doors that work with PAX hinges?
- Can you mount sliding door rails to a corner frame without losing access?
If I can just gain that one inch, the whole thing fits! Any tips or "hacks" would be huge. I am located in California, USA.
Thanks!
