It’s my first time moving out of my parent’s house so I’ve never rented before. I thought it was more of a first come first serve system(immediately after viewing the property I offered my interest to rent the place). Letting agent has just told me someone else has said they are also interested in renting the place so they are in talks with the landlord on who to choose to allow them to live at their property.

Are there any ways to help me with my case (look like a more desirable tenant) or is it all out of my control and just hope the landlord picks me?
