Hello, after an evening of painting yesterday, all that's left to do is the poor little tortured man, the cables, and the flames. I've never painted fire or skin before; do you have any specific tips for these two things? Thanks!

I shared my basing process and my glaze attempt on the cloak few days ago. Yesterday I painted 6 bases to find my favorite color scheme, I finally found it so today is THE day I glued this mini on its homemade base, and I feel so happy !!
I'm totally crazy about playing my army, but I really love painting too. What a wonderful hobby ! 🩷
Today I picked up the very first miniature I painted three weeks ago (I'd never painted a miniature before) and practiced glazing on the inside of the cloak.
I think the result is cool for a first attempt, but I suppose I could push it further? What would you do to accentuate the drape even more?
I should also mention that I haven't yet done the small touch-ups on this miniature, particularly a bit of red that had bled from the sleeve onto the right arm, or a bit of white that had bled onto the red at the top of the thigh! And I also need to touch up the white on the helmet and left shoulder.
Thanks for your feedback on the cloak!
Hello,
Perhaps you remember a post I published a while ago about my custom bases created with a GSW texture roller, "temple" pattern.
After three weeks of painting my miniatures, I'm taking a short break and tackling the bases. Here's my first attempt, which I'm already very happy with! I'm going to get a specific shade of light gray for the stone outlines, because right now I have to mix it, but I won't be able to reproduce it exactly every time I want to paint a series of bases.
My current process is :
- Air-drying polymer clay base (Fimo brand in France)
- Black undercoat
- Heavy drybrushing with Eshin Grey
- Lighter drybrushing with Mechanicus Standard Grey
- Very light drybrushing with Screaming Skull
- Wash with Nuln Oil
- Second very light drybrushing with Screaming Skull
- Highlighting the edges with very light gray
- Moss Green and terracotta pigments (from GSW) applied randomly with dry brushing, then diluted with water
- Partial wash on small areas with Agrax Earthshade
- Second highlighting of the edges with light gray.
I placed a Sister of Battle on top to see how it looked; the white armor really stands out against these shades of gray !
