Today, my well-loved, recently restored 1992 Felicity met her 2026 counterpart.

The joy I had while opening her box reminded me of what it felt like to be a young girl, seeing her brand new Felicity for the first time. It's really fun to compare the dolls. (I also didn't realize how much my old Felicity's gown has faded!)

Very interested to hear how everyone feels about their new dolls v. their old versions; changes that have struck you; etc.

My 40th anniversary Felicity will mostly be for display - I want to keep her as like-new as possible - meanwhile my '92 gal spends half the day at my desk doing work with me, and has long since lost her pincurls! Since we're probably moving soon, I'm not even sure I will fully unbox the new girl... she may stay in her box until we're in our forever home!

This week I finally added Kaya to my collection! She's adorable, and I'm super happy.

Someone posted her on Marketplace for $60, and she's in pretty good shape. I've cleaned her up and took some marks off her, but here's two other things I'd love help with...

  1. There's a pretty significant shine mark on her nose. I've never tried to fix a shine mark before, and since it's her nose... I want to be extra careful. I've seen the following suggestions: using a 2400 micromesh sheet to lightly buff the area; using a nail buffing block; using a matte spray to even out the whole face. I'd lean toward one of the buffing suggestions - but am grateful for your input!

  2. She had some loose hair from her braids, so I thought, "no problem, I'll just re-braid them!" Haha, joke's on me. Not only is it hard to get all the hair to stay flat in each section (so many fly-aways and loose hairs), but the back of her head is a bit frizzy and matted, and spraying water on it hasn't helped. Should I boil wash? I've since read that her hair can get tangled very easily, so I'm hesitant to attempt taking it all down at once.

Thanks for your help! xo, Kaya and me
