When will we find out if a class will sit for a final exam? Based on the Final Exam Schedule, there are 3 classes for the major on day 1, and Stats 1110 on day 5. I understand that GenEd classes won’t have the same requirements, but is a seated exam standard? Is there a way to see a syllabus for past quarters? Thanks!
I’ve seen box fans recommended, but wonder if there is a best practice for cooling a red brick triple. Are installed window fans allowed? Is a window fan that pushes air out useful? Is it better to have air pushing both directions at the same time? Is it useful to keep the door closed or open? How much access is there to ice in the dorms? Enough to fill a styrofoam cooler rigged with holes and fan? With the semester starting a month sooner, it could be worth it to have a method in place.
Hi! We are a family of 4 from the East Coast, who will be dropping our 18 year old off at Cal Poly in mid-August. We will fly into Fresno a few days early and can stay the prior Sunday and Monday nights in tent cabins at either Yosemite or Kings Canyon. Yosemite is a longer drive to SLO than Kings Canyon, and we’ve heard that It can be absurdly crowded, but is it crazy to pass up for Sequoia/Kings? Thanks!
East coast mom sending my 18 yo to SLO! He’s excited to explore nature on the west coast and he’s seen that Cal Poly has several clubs with organized day hikes, weekend trips and longer. I’d love some high school graduation gift recommendations to help him on his way.

- a new sleeping bag liner, adds 10-15 degrees
- a new closed foam folding pad
- a light 40 year old summer weight goose down sleeping bag that unzips into a trapezoid quilt
- a 10x14 3.5lb waterproof, insulated blanket with poncho hood and snaps
Anything not worth taking? What could he add to complete a decent Cali kit? Is there commonly borrowed or rented gear? Is a hammock set up preferable to a tent out there?

Super excited family of four coming from NYC for move-in. We’d like to be tourists for the weekend before wow and not visit places Freshman Mustang frequent. Two of us visited 6 weeks ago and made it out to Carrizo Plain for the bloom. Wow! Parents have been to Santa Barbara, Big Sur and wineries. All 4 haven’t been to Yosemite or Sequoia. Should we plan for a National Park? Should we stick to Paso Robles, Santa Ynez or Los Padres? Not limited to one airport.
