Is this mold?

Let me know if you think this is mold, kind of looks like lint as well. Can’t tell but leaning mold.

Too hot in May for South Kaibab - Tonto - Bright Angel?

Going to be in the grand canyon in mid-late May. Was planning on easier day hikes but the above piqued my interest. Any advice on approaching a longer day hike such as this with the heat? Would you even do this?

For reference I would call myself a basic hiker and planned to start ~4ish am to try and beat most of the heat.
