This week, I'm without a job for the first time in 37 years.
I was laid off yesterday from my engineering job (hardware/embedded firmware). This is the first time I've been let go in my 37-year career. I was lucky and my career had been stable and strong, but now I find myself entering the job market at 59 years old.
I can't say I'm excited about the LinkedIn nightmare I'm heading into. I have 10 weeks of severance, so I'm going to take a short break to get my head straight before I start applying and dealing with recruiters.
I've read a lot of posts here over the past few months, and it looks like I've officially become one of you and am joining you in solidarity.
