Has anyone had a sterling silver ring resized lately? I have no idea re cost and want to factor it in before I consider buying one that is too small

I am repairing an old 70s string of agate 'beggar beads' for a friend. As they are heavy I was going to use flex-rite 49. The original clasp is a small barrel screw type. I would have to crimp the ends of the wire inside the clasp as there are no "loops" to do this outside the clasp. Would that hold? or should I use a different clasp, eg a toggle or ornamental hook? sorry I don't know the lingo, I don't do this much 😄
