I beaded a calla lily and am attempting to make it into a bag!

Recently have gotten into bead embroidery and decided to try and attempt my most ambitious project yet. Finally finished the beading portion, now I just have to assemble the thing. Wish me luck 🙏🏼

Coating for beadwork

The Before, During, and after of sealing my beadwork with Speedball metal leaf sealer. this notebook will live in my pocket so it's going to see a lot of wear and tear. i was so impressed with this. you can barely tell it's been coated and because it's for metal leaf it doesn't take away any shine!

Which rosary construction do you prefer: chain-link, paracord, or beading wire?

I’m curious what kind of rosary construction people prefer for actual prayer use.

Do you prefer:

A: Chain-link / eye-pin linked
B: Paracord / knotted
C: Strung on beading wire

And why? Is it because of durability, flexibility, weight, spacing, or the way it feels in your hands?

My first try at peyote stitch. Question in the comments

This is my first beading project. I used a miyuki delica bead soup I had on hand to try peyote stitch. I wanted to try bead loom, but since I don't have one, I thought I'd give this a try before investing in a loom. I enjoyed the process even though it took me about 4-5 hours to do. For those of you who make bracelets, is a loom worth it? Or do you prefer stitching by hand with either peyote or square stitch? I'm trying to figure out if I should spend the money on a loom. Thank you for your insight!

Using French wire instead of wire protectors

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share a quick tip; I know this may seem obvious to many, but as a beginner, I wish someone gave me this piece of advice sooner!

I absolutely hate the look of wire protectors; I think they just look so awkward and unsophisticated. For the longest time I skipped the protectors but I know this isn’t great for durability. Then I saw a YouTube tutorial about using French wire instead and it was such a game changer. I love the look!

I’m still not a pro and I’m still learning but thought I’d share :)

Beaded fringe necklace

I used a leather cord, added seed and tube beads. I did the black one first and liked it so much I made the second one with red

I found this necklace picture on Pinterest (first pic) and tried making it myself for fun (second pic). Afterwards I realized I did the stripes in a different direction. I plan on making this kind of necklace again and was curious which one draws the eye more, the vertical or horizontal stripes?

Either way I’m gonna make that last white row the yellow color instead of the black/white

help! What beading pattern is this?

Hello! I was given this Ifa by my great grandmother when I was 5, I’m currently 21 and obviously its taken some wear. I really want to repair it, its the last thing I have from her since she passed away last summer!
(Note- its still wearable but the elastic is stretching out every wear! )

Can you translate?

I am very eager to get into beading. I need a little help understanding what this means:

"Hanks are 24 strings (2 strings = 1 loop) and 10" long."

Does this mean that I am getting 24 10" long strings of each color? Sounds like an amazing deal but also a LOT of beads. I'd like to get a large variety of colors to play with but I think I want a smaller amount?

I'm looking at the Crazy Crow site because it was recommended to me by someone local here but I cannot ask them about this so I need reddit help.

Beginner; help reading patterns/don't know what this craft actually is!

I have been trying to learn 3D beading, and find lots of patterns on pinterest like the attached one. I have been following tutorials from BeadingbyHannah on Youtube, and she calls it Peyote stitch but searching that specifically leads to things unlike her projects/tuts. What is this craft called? Are these patterns the same as her style of beading? How on earth do I read these patterns, I cannot for the life of me find anyone who will explain them and most of the pinterest posts are captioned in russian! Help!

Untested tutorials

I bought 2 tutorials from Etsy, different designers.

Each tutorial has errors, they did not include a color in the materials list that are in the stitching guide. Images did not match the directions.

Just ridiculous. I am an experienced beader and did make these patterns work.

I mostly do my own designs and rarely buy a tutorial. I expect tutorials to have been tested before they are put on a website. I do testing for several designers.

I will never buy a tutorial from Etsy again.

As a white person, can I make and sell woven bead work?

I'm a white American of British decent, and really want to make / s3ll woven bracelets like this: https://pin.it/5esjInhOt . I want to make designs that are or based off of pride flags. I wouldn't make any designs that aren't from my culture though.

Is this ok?

Edit: I somehow forgot to say that I'm worried about accidentally participating in cultural appropriation

Edit2: The fact that so many of you are downvoting my post and comments is really not a good look. I'm asking this question because I want to be as respectful as possible; I've found mixed answers online, which is why I'm asking here

Beaded Panther- to add claws+scratches or leave as is?

I’m making this beaded panther as a patch for a purse I’m working on, and I keep going back and forth between adding singular white seed beads along the knuckles as claws? And if I do add claws, so I want to use rhinestones/beads to make scratch marks?
I focused so hard on the line work this time and I’m really proud (could still improve but this is my best so far!!) so a part of me wants to leave it as is and focus on my line work.

Ideas/opinions appreciated!
