I’m expecting a lot of flack for having an island instead of a counter/coffee bar, but for $50 on FB market place, plenty happy with it.

The question is which spot does it look best? Turned facing us it blocks the trash can and, to my eye, feels like it doesn’t “fit”. But my sister saw it the sideways direction(first pic) and said she liked it the other way much more(Second pic)

No, I won’t be using the extender top, I may even take it off unless there’s some mystery position I’m not considering.
