If someone asked you for your permission to post a translation of your work, would you decline? And why?

Hello, I'm Ilya. I'm a translator, not a job yet, but I like to do it in my free time. I translate song lyrics, board game rules & articles. In my posts I use full credits to the authors, including multiple links to the originals. With lyrics, I link to Genius. With articles I just link the og article & use the name of the source. With board games, I post translation to BGG, to the game page itself (so far, all were approved by moderators). It's hard to reach most of these authors, especially with songs. But if the DMCA comes, I will remove the translation from public.

But, I thought that it would be amazing to translate online horror stories & to post the translation publicly So far, I only had one such experience, but it was genuinely a big letdown for me.

I wonder, is there a point for me, or anyone else to translate online stories, if translators will keep getting rejected?

If someone asked you to post a translation of your work, on your rights, for example: they'll send you a translation & you will post it on your page, crediting the author of the translation; or translator will send you a link to a draft-post, so you could check it before they post it publicly; or any other way, would you allow it? But if you were to decline, what would be the reason?

Hi, my name is Ilya. And this is one of my cats, he is almost 2 y/o & his name is Maverick (Маврик). His name actually suits his behavior quite well.

We live in Russia & I can confirm that cats here are as cute, as anywhere else in the world.

Love from Russia 😘
