I just picked this one up off Mercari, and I’m screaming over how cute it is.

Tried helping out a homeless man and now it backfired

Hi, I’m concerned for my safety and looking for advice or resources.

I’m a married woman. I’ve seen this homeless man in my neighborhood before, but yesterday I was sweeping the porch when he approached me and asked if I had any work he could do for $$ to pay his phone bill.

I told him I do not, and then he proceeded to ask me about yard work. I was hesitant, but I realized I do have a lot of overgrown weeds.

We agreed he could do yard work in exchange for $$ that night.

I was shocked by how good of a job he did, and we currently have a heat wave. I felt bad and provided water and ice while he worked outside. We also had leftover dinner, and I gave him a plate of food.

He then asked to use our bathroom, and my husband was home, and my husband said it was okay. He did use our restroom, and everything seemed okay after.

He does text, and I provided an alternate phone # I use to communicate with him.

This morning he texted me and was being weird and insistent on coming over and doing additional work. I firmly told him no. He then asked if he could hang out in our yard, and I set a boundary that he cannot be on our property and that I wouldn’t hang out in our neighborhood.

He then told me, “I’ll get lost, bye.” At that point, I was over his attitude and did not plan to interact further.

Later on, he texted me and asked me if he could ask a question, and I said “sure”

He proceeded to text me incredibly inappropriate sexual comments and what he would want to do to me.

I told him never to set foot on our property or else cops will be called, and we are also armed and will not hesitate to use it if required. And we have a security system + cameras. And he would be blocked.

I’ve blocked his number, but now I feel unsafe. I don’t necessarily know what to do if he comes back. Does anyone have advice? I also feel frustrated because I wanted to do something kind for someone, and this backfired on me. I’ve learned my lesson for now and will not provide aid to individuals, and if I want to make an impact, I’ll donate to a nonprofit or volunteer.

Edit: I did not agree to let him work on the yard without my spouse’s consent. Once I spoke to my spouse about it, he said that was fine as long as he was home. That’s why I have the phone number for this man. Once my spouse agreed and was on-site, he was invited to come back to work.

Tried being kind to a homeless man, and now it has resulted in me feeling unsafe.

Help with a dumped/stray cat in Payson area

Hi! There is a cat that was dumped in the area, or might be a stray. She seems like someone’s pet and very well loved. She is pregnant and malnourished, and is being provided food and shelter for now, but cannot be kept.

As for the pregnancy, I can get her spayed and hope they can do a spay/abortion, but she cannot be kept long-term at my place. Is there a non-profit that can get her a foster home? I’m afraid the shelter will euthanize her. She is very sweet.
