A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding this announcement. KobeeJapan is suspending shipments to the U.S. because of new CPSC regulations. That doesn't automatically mean you can't personally bring Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters home from Japan.

If you travel to Japan, buy them for your own collection, and bring them back in your luggage, that's generally different from a business importing products for sale. Personal belongings brought back by travelers are usually handled under customs rules, not the same CPSC compliance process that commercial retailers have to follow.

Of course, you should still follow U.S. Customs rules (declare your purchases if required and stay within applicable allowances), but this announcement doesn't mean tourists are banned from bringing their own Sylvanians home.

So as of now: Buying them in Japan for yourself and bringing them back in your suitcase is generally fine. This notice is about commercial shipments from KobeeJapan to U.S. customers, not personal travel purchases.

Hi this is from the red roof house I had years ago and I couldn’t remove the screw back then and I recently tried again and it’s not working too. I don’t really know what to do because tutorials show people who only had semi damaged screws but this one is like completely round.

I got these for my 18th Birthday today. I’m so excited!! My dad bought me the little greenhouse craft from hobby lobby because he thought maybe it could fit with my calico critters. (Cat photo bombed my last picture lol. She was super curious.)

I don’t have anyone to share this with so I’ll share it here. I’m almost 40 years old, these figures are probably from 1990. I loved playing with them. I went to Japan and remembered to buy them clothing because I lost most of their original clothing. Now they’ll live with the rest of my collection 🤎💙

I spent 3 weeks in Japan and Taiwan with my boyfriend for my winter break (i’m from australia) and i went a bit crazy 😵‍💫. i’m super happy with them all, but some sets didn’t fit in my luggage so they’ll be coming soon.. (the astronomy baby trio set, the curly ear cat tasty treats set, and the snow fairy bird set, sloth family set, and a 2005 vintage flower swing).

if anyone is visiting taiwan, the prices there are more expensive for the sylvanians, but the best place to shop is Funbox, they have the widest selection!

I designed and 3D printed a set of balconies for my daughter's Calico Critters as she always wants to take some to bed. I figured a wall-mount balcony for her bedroom would be the perfect place to put them. I based the baluster design on the short railing from the Red Roof Cozy Cottage (The older(?) version with shutters) and also made a version that can attach to it (Can see the original railing and that version in the second image).

Have made the files available on Maker World if anyone wants to print their own.

It's not a house, but he has a little scene box now.

I'm not sure why, I've made lots of things and done customs and all. But I really love him and his little witch accessories so much.

Is this a bootleg sylvanian? Or just from a set I can’t find? Please help !

I actually quite like this set amlnd the clothing, though I may customize the bike! Tiger girlie is also SO cute and I love the clothes, but had to try them on Raine for a bit.

I ordered these sets from Amazon Japan about a week after the new laws went into effect (July 18th) as a last minute attempt to try and grab some Japanese sets I’ve been wanting for a while!
I was very worried they weren’t going to make it, but they shipped fast and cleared customs just fine.
This isn’t to say that every order from Japan will arrive in your hands, but I just wanted to share my experience to give hope to other fellow US collectors :3

Okay so, I pulled an all nighter because I got the idea to make a little dragon for my tip box (i'm a facepainter) and!!! I love him so much. I am obsessed with his little gold and gems pile. Maybe I'll figure out how to smooth out the lines later, but i used sculpy instead of epoxy sculpt, and this is my first added body parts ever:) hope you guys enjoy him as much as me!
