This is a beautiful photo of the Snow-Warrens that I desperately wanted to include in the Character Encyclopedia - but unfortunately we weren’t able to track down the original negative for the photo and it was taken years before we started using digital photography - scans from existing print didn’t produce a high enough digital quality for the book printing process.

But we can still enjoy it here! This photo was used in the 1990 Tomy handbook to promote the upcoming release of this family - you’ll notice that parents Clarence and Lettuce have one lop-ear, a trait that was never carried into the release of this family… are they still out there somewhere waiting for a lucky collector to find them? 🐰

Ahead of tomorrow’s official release date, I’ve been busy parcelling up copies to send to family and friends that have been part of my Sylvanian Families journey over the last forty years!

A published author… Who’d have thought!

The advance copy of my book has arrived! I’m so delighted with it and to see a printed copy finally after years of digital drafts is amazing.

Having the opportunity to write such a detailed history of Sylvanian Families has been a real honour and fantastic opportunity. Ever the perfectionist, I just wish there’d been capacity to go into even more detail!

The Sylvanian Families Official Character Encyclopedia, published by MacMillan Children’s Books, is out on October 1st 2026 - I hope you all love it as much as I do!
