Pigeon only eats if petted.

I have been taking care of the baby with the spinal injury, and the little guy only eats if I’m petting him. I don’t know how we learned these behavior, but I would like for him to be more independent in the future. Any tips?

Update! First steps with spine damage.

I am so proud I could cry. I am so happy even though he’s still a bit clumsy. I see improvement! Also, I can finally see that he’s a little bit afraid of me as he peeped for the first time in two weeks when I approached him today. I will take that as a good sign that he is finally feeling a little better hehe

Damaged spine, euthanasia recommended.

Hey all, I found this baby a week ago and brought him to the vet and was told that he has a damaged spine. Cannot walk or fly. He’s in good spirits, eats and poops. The vet recommended a couple weeks of anti-inflammatories to see if it helps but said that euthanasia would probably be the best outcome as he doesn’t think it will get its balance back. When I giving that his legs move a lot, and I think that he is really fighting to live. I’ve seen improvement since finding him. Anyone has Had experience with broken or damaged soine Had experience with broken or damaged spines? Is recovery possible? Thank you.

Help. Weird movements and paralyzed legs.

Hello, I just found this baby unable to move the legs, they do not work. They do twitch but it cannot hold itself up. It’s drinking water and I forced it to eat a few lentils but it’s doing weird movements and I am worried. Beak is slightly open at all times too. What should I do??

Is she okay? She can only eat the small seeds.

This is pigeon feed btw, I don’t know why she’s not able to swallow.

Thank you for the tips, I’ve made goofy girl a cast!

She is so bad at flying that I seriously feel like maybe there is a brain injury involved. This big fledgling doesn’t know how to land straight, but we’re working on it! Love her to bits.

Foot doesn’t hold its shape.

If I gently force it into the right position, he can walk just fine, but then the fingers get tangled again and he walks like this. Finger doesn’t react when I touch it, it’s limp. Broken finger?

His ceres feel soft and squishy? Is it because it’s still young or should I worry?

The pink/beige part that connects to the face feels almost hollow to the touch. Squishy. Rest of the beak is hard.

I postponed giving him a name as to not fall in love. Turns out, when you call him “baby” 24/7, you fall in love harder.

Pigeons have changed my entire approach to life.

I feel kinder. Since rescuing by accident, I have started noticing every little pigeon that comes my way. I feel so much love and empathy towards other living beings. Love the unlovable. You will be surprised.

What does the vibration mean?

He does that, mostly when I move.
